The Dream: A Bespoke Garden Den that Creates Extra Indoor Space

Elspeth Fare contacted us with dreams of a quiet garden den to use as a crafting space. Life inside of their home had become a bit distracting, and they wanted a secluded sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. This ideal garden room would provide them with extra space to get creative while refreshing their minds and emotions—a true comfortable sanctuary just steps away from their house.

The Challenge: A Garden Room that Maximises Space with Sleek Design

Like many families in the Highlands, Elspeth had limited outdoor space, so they didn’t know if they’d be able to accommodate a new-construction garden room. We approached Elspeth's craft room with the goal to create as much new indoor space as possible while also ensuring the integrity of their outdoor space. Starting with one of our signature designs from the Cairngorm range, we worked with Elspeth to design a bespoke garden room to fit in with their unique desires as well as their unique garden.

Elspeth’s bespoke garden den was finished quickly thanks to our ground screw foundation system—a low-carbon, low-impact alternative to concrete, which allows for new structural builds without having to dig a foundation. We then worked alongside SBC Highland, Ltd to lay pristine grey Indian sandstone slabs that pull together the new addition to their outdoor space seamlessly.

The Result: A Cosy Multi-Functional Garden Room

Elspeth’s new space is a charming garden den, cladded in Lunawood exterior, which enhances the overall look of their outdoor space. It’s a multi-functional garden room: they quickly discovered its versatility as they now use it not only for crafting, but also as a home office as well as relaxation area. Tucked away behind their home, this multi-purpose outdoor room is a quiet and indulgent escape.
