The Dream: Creating the perfect writing hideaway in harmony with nature..

Our customer, a talented author, came to us with a vision for a quiet retreat nestled at the bottom of their woodland garden — a place to write, read, and be inspired by nature. They wanted a comfortable space that could be used all year round that combined practicality with tranquility: somewhere that offered all the comforts of home while feeling completely removed from the hustle of everyday life. Natural light, a peaceful outlook, and a sense of seclusion were all essential to bring their dream writing room to life.

The Challenge: Building beautifully within a natural, secluded setting.

The chosen site was at the far end of the garden, surrounded by trees and heather — a beautiful but logistically tricky location with all materials to be hand lifted in.. Access for materials and equipment was limited, and the uneven ground required careful preparation to ensure a stable, level base without disturbing the natural landscape. The design also needed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, complementing the woodland setting while offering a modern, low-maintenance finish. Inside, the space had to work hard — including room for a large desk, a handmade bookshelf, a compact kitchen, and a separate shower room — all within a carefully planned footprint.

The Result: A serene, fully finished space ready for inspiration to flow.

The finished garden room is a stunning sanctuary that perfectly meets the brief. The pitched roof and mix of natural lunawood cladding at the front with black aluminium steel sides create a stylish, contemporary contrast that sits beautifully among the trees. Inside, the space feels warm and inviting with bespoke joinery, soft green tones, and views over the surrounding woodland. From the handmade bookshelf to the fully fitted kitchenette and shower room, every detail has been thoughtfully designed for comfort and functionality.
