The Vision: Bringing the Cuillin to life.
The Cuillin Sauna started with a vision to create a beautifully designed outdoor sauna that combined contemporary styling with the quality and craftsmanship we bring to all of our Garden Den projects.
While we were developing the design, one of our customers mentioned that they were planning to purchase a sauna online for their property near Ullapool. We shared our plans for the Cuillin and they loved the idea of working with a local Highland company who could take care of the entire build from the foundations through to the finishing details.
With an incredible outlook across the surrounding Highland landscape, it was also the perfect location for our very first Cuillin Sauna.
The Design and Build : Built from the ground up.
Building beautifully within a natural, secluded setting.
The sauna was built completely on site by our team, starting with the ground screw foundations. The sloping garden meant the foundations, decking and access all needed to be carefully considered to create a level, practical space while making the most of the spectacular view.
For the exterior, we chose striking black Thermowood cladding, with natural Thermowood creating a warm and calming interior. Lunawood benches were handcrafted to fit the space, complemented by LED spotlights and subtle strip lighting behind the benches.
A large panoramic aluminium-framed window was positioned to take full advantage of the view, alongside an aluminium entrance door and a HUUM DROP electric heater.
The Result: A Sauna with a view.
The finished Cuillin is a warm, contemporary space that feels completely at home in its Highland setting. The panoramic window frames the view from inside the sauna, while the contrast between the black exterior and natural timber interior gives the building the distinctive look we had envisaged when developing the original design.
To complete the outdoor space, the customers chose to add a copper cold-water shower along with a handmade deck and balustrade, all built by our team to suit the sloping site.
This first project brought our original Cuillin design to life and has now become the foundation for our signature outdoor sauna range.
